PUTOFF

           “Put off … the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;” Ephesians 4:22

PUT ON

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the New Man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:23,24

PUT OFF

“Putting away lying,” Ephesians 4:25

PUT ON

“speak every man truth with his neighbor:” Ephesians 4:25

PUT OFF

“GIVE NO PLACE TO THE DEVIL… STEAL NO MORE!” EPHESIANS 4:27,28

PUT ON 

LET HIM LABOUR, WORKING WITH HIS HANDS, THE THING WHICH IS GOOD, THAT HE MAY HAVE TO GIVE TO HIM THAT NEEDETH.” EPHESIANS 4:28

PUT OFF

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth.” Ephesians 4:29

PUT ON

“Speak that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” Ephesians 4:29

Edifying= Building up in christian knowledge; instructing, improving the mind.

PUT OFF 

“Bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:” Ephesians 4:31

BITTERNESS= Grudge, hatred, anger, a state of extreme impiety or enmity to God. Acts 8

ANGER= A violent passion of the mind excited by a real or supposed injury; usually accompanied with a propensity to take vengeance, or to obtain satisfaction from the offending party. 

CLAMOR= A great outcry; noise; exclamation; talk loud; to stun with noise.

EVIL SPEAKING= bad, unjust, injurious, immoral, wicked, corrupt, perverse, wrong. 

MALICE= Extreme enmity of heart, or malevolence; a disposition to injure others without cause, from mere personal gratification or from a spirit of revenge; unprovoked malignity or spite. To regard with extreme ill will.

PUT ON

“Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” Ephesians 4:32

PUT OFF

“Fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, Let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient.” Ephesians 5:3

Fornication= The incontinence or lewdness of unmarried persons, male or female; also, the criminal conversation of a married man with an unmarried woman.

Covetousness= A strong or inordinate desire of obtaining and possessing some supposed good; usually in a bad sense, and applied to an inordinate desire of wealth or avarice. Strong desire; eagerness.

Filthiness=The state of being filthy. Foulness; dirtiness; filth; nastiness. Corruption; pollution; defilement by sin; impurity.

FOOLISH= Void of understanding or sound judgment; weak in intellect; applied to general character. Unwise; imprudent; acting without judgment or discretion in particular things. Proceeding from folly, or marked with folly; silly; vain; trifling.

But foolish questions avoid. 2 Tim 2.  Ridiculous; despicable.

In scripture, wicked; sinful; acting without regard to the divine law and glory, or to one’s own eternal happiness. O foolish Galatians – Gal 3.

Proceeding from depravity; sinful; as foolish lusts. 1 Tim 6.

JESTING= Joking; talking for diversion or merriment. A joking; concise wit; wit that consists in a trope or verbal figure, in a metaphorical sense of words, or in a double sense of the same word, or in similitude of sound in different words.

PUT ON

“But Rather GIVING OF THANKS!” Ephesians 5:4

“Grieve NOT the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
